Granny Richardson Springs Schoolhouse

The Granny Richardson Springs one-room schoolhouse is 120 years old and still enjoys the affection and patronage of people in Estill County. Historic places serve as markers of our humanity – and of our shared memory of days gone by – even the little places.

Eastern Kentucky University was the first Normal school in the state of Kentucky right alongside of Western Kentucky University. This documentary created by Progress contributor Kate Fugate, addresses the history of how EKU was a Normal School, and how they taught students to become teachers.
